This general snapshot for Science allows the teacher to highlight areas that are specific to the student's learning ability throughout a unit. The snapshot's content is based on the curricular competencies, and relates specifically to the work and learning that was completed over a Science unit. For this specific snapshot, I have used it for a Grade 5 unit on the Rock Cycle; however, the snapshot is flexible and can be used for other grades and topics within BC's Science Curriculum (i.e. simple machines, body systems, earth materials, etc.). Within the snapshot, the teacher may make comments to the parents and guardians of the student regarding his/her learning, as well as providing advice for how the student can continue progressing in his/her learning in the future. The snapshot also allows the student's voice to be heard, as there is a section implemented specifically for the student to add their own personal comments on how they thought they did in a unit.
